Re: engine decode help

I went to this site:
http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php

If i'm reading it right it looks like a 1981 engine V= flint 10=october 10= 10th day ZDD=1981 190 hp manual trans 4bbl vette?????????????????????
There is a picture near the bottom that looks like where I got my number from. In the picture it has a number that starts with the V like mine....
What I'm confused about is
On the back of the block on the drivers side there is a place that looks like a vin number stamped on it it would decode it as a 72 1/2 ton pickup balitmore IF it is really a vin number for our trucks stamped ino the back of the block. There is a smooth area kinda oval maybe 2" long with the cce142b....number stamped in it.

Re: engine decode help

The heads look like 75-86 350/400 76cc chamber. Is a 76cc chamber good?

Re: engine decode help

The dd on the block corresponds to a 1969 307 2bbl 200hp.

Re: engine decode help

I see but what would the Z be for? and the heads are for a 75-86?
I was looking at decoding the entire thing...
V.....Flint
10....october
10....10th day
the rest is ZDD??
I see ZDD as 81 350 M/T 190 hp vette?
That would go along with the heads being 1975-1986
I'm only going by what the website looks like so I'm not sure..
would there be any other place on the block that would tell me the date? So I can see if it's dated around 69 or 81?
Over the years the heads could have been changed?
