rear ends

o.k. I did a search for rear disc brakes read every single post, and no one had seemed to of answered or thought of this question. how long of a rear end is needed for our trucks? I have a 71 c20. found an explorer 8.8 rear end on ebay, this is with disc brakes for 400 plus 100 for shipping. this is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...473855618&rd=1
anyone know if this would fit? and also what size of rear end should I be looking for?

If you can find a 79 Lincoln Versailles you'll get a nice Ford 9 inch rear with disk brakes, slightly narrower than a truck rear (will make your truck look tubbed with the correct wheel offset and width) I had two of them but I sold them.

LOL, it's pure coincidence I log on right around the time that you have a question. Hey, if you can find one of those Lincoln rears they are the sh!t. There's a quote from another thread....

alright, just for future refrence for fellow truck lovers, the 71 and newer 2wd rear ends had a measurment of 62". that was according to this website:
http://50chevy.freeservers.com/Suspension_Widths.html
I hope that in the future this can help others.
the site also gives out demensions of other vehicle rear ends
