What manual trans will replace the three speed?
Will a Muncie, saginaw, or Super T 10 bolt in the same as the factory three speed in a 72? The trans looks similar to the 3 speed that was in my 66 Malibu but not sure. Are the lengths the same as a three speed? I know I will have to use a floor shifter but am more concerned with actual trans swapping. Is the input shaft bearing retainer the same diameter as the car four speeds where it fits into the bellhousing? Any help will be appreciated.

I may be getting a NV4500, but what style trans will work as a bolt in if I blow my three speed up until I get the 4500 installed?

Dude, if memory is correct, a Saginaw 4 speed is a straight in swap, with a floor shifter as you mentioned, of course.
