Good day at the junkyard

Had a good day yesterday at the yard. Here is my list:
small block AC brackets
fan shroud
van tilt - complete
mid 70's steering wheel (on the tilt)
2 90's style chevy steering wheels
cruise from a 72 - I think its an aftermarket
radiator hold downs from a 72 ac truck
2 sets of a/c vents
ralley wheel
1 chrome vent window
window crank
2 auto tranny linkages

all for $140, and that included lunch for 2 at a BBQ shop

and the fun was FREE!!

I remember the day's when we could pick and pull our own parts, then haul the motherlode to the office and offer a price. Junkyarding is so darn fun, you never know what kind of goodies you'll end up with.
My last trip to the "yard" was rather unpleasant. Went to the office and told the guy what I was looking for, and asked if I could walk around and find the items myself. He says "OK", about an hour later I came back with what I thought was maybe 15-20 bucks worth and the owner says "who the hell let you in the yard, it's not our policy to allow customers to strip the parts and wander around the yard" (I've edited out the descriptive profanity he used) and he was very upset with his employee. One item I'd picked was a seatbelt for a 85 Crown Vic, owner wanted $35 for one single friggin belt, so I told him he needed it more than me. Never again

Junkyardin

Hay I got one of those by me I wanted two buckets and couch bed and complete head liner including lights and console above windshield including radio and wiring harnes everything was mint no cuts or burns they were dirty but cleaning up nicely. I expected the starting point to be at least $150.00 then nornal barganing when he said $80.00 I gust instinctly said how about $40.00 (I always cut his price in half) he said $50.00 I said sold and spent about two hours removing the stuff carefully. By the way you can go out and find any thing you want in the yard spend as much time as you want just be out before they close and let the dogs out I have fun every time I go there spent 5 hrs. there sat.
Have A Great Day (at the junkyard) EMMETT

the junkyard man at a local yard told me $200 when I pointed at the dana 60 front axle laying in a pile of junk, and I even got him down to $150...lol. i think that's the best score I might ever get at a JY.
