Homemade Crossover steering question....

I did a search first and everything was for either a dana 44, Dana 60, or was to buy my kit, so.........
Hi, My name is Joe and I'm a wanderer.
I would like to do crossover steering on my 85 with a 10 bolt and 8 inches of lift. I know a need a 2wd steering box and so on so forth, but I was looking at my passenger side steering knuckle and saw there was no where to mount a mount for the drag linkage. What is the big secret? Also I will be saving money by piecing my set up together and was wonder about what to make the drag linkage out of. Any suggestions for a cheap homemade crossover, I.E. pitman arm, steering knuckle, tie rod ends, mounts.

try this link it has info on 10 bolt and dana 44, maybe will help if not ill keep my eye out for any good info.

"ALL GM corp 10 bolts and most '77-up D44's will need the knuckles from an older D44 in order to complete the crossover steering."

yup, 10 bolt knuckles wont work for crossover, need older Dana 44 knucks, which are a direct bolt on for your 10 bolt knucks.

They are refered to as "flat top knuckles".

When I get some money I will pick up the passenger side knuckle and work on it. I came across a Jeep Wrangler steering box, shaft and pitman off a newer totaled jeep at school and am going to use that. My box is about done with. As far as the drag linkage, wouldn't a drag link off a solid axle drivers to passenger side knuckles work?

why bother with Heep stuff? its designed for a vehicle way smaller and lighter than your truck. use a 2wd truck box, and there's a Ford pitman arm out there that everyone uses. no fab work, just bolt it up.
