guys i have a problem
i just put a new altenator and plug on my truck and when it`s idling it`s fine but when i put it reverse or drive it drops down below 13.any suggestions would greatly appreciated.
also my truck has a 700r transmission in it and it is really slow changing.driving at 50 or 60kmh put it to the floor and it won`t kick down into lower gear.i`ve heard there is some kind of adjustment on the side of the transmission.if anyone has experienced this before can you let me know what you did to fix it thanks. |

If the system is keeping the battery charged then don't worry about it.
My S10 idles below 9V's at time's and above 13V other time's i just think it's the indicator there not to reliable. You can check the out put of the alt. @ the bat with a multi meter and compare it to the dash ind. |

there is definately somrthing wrong there because when it drops down below 13 it`s almost like the truck is going to shut off.
when driving along it`s fine when i stop with it still in drive it starts to surge up and down.i can turn on the lights and heater and the gauge doesn`t move very much.only in drive or reverse.thanks |

Okay were gonna need a little more info on the truck what year, eng. etc.
There's a chance that who ever owned the truck before you has changed the wireing in this system. Assumeing you are the 2nd ,3rd or what ever owner of the truck. |

okay,87 4x4 350tbi only 90,000 km on engine and trans all original i`m the 2nd owner.the original owmer is 70 years old.there was only 54,000km on it when i bought it.he bought the truck new to tow a fifth wheel trailor and when his wife passed away he had no need for the truck anymore.i have the truck 3 years now and haven`t had any problems with it until now.i don`t think he did anything to the wiring because the truck was like new when i bought it. thanks.

Thast's good if your shure the wireing is in good shape there's not much to the system everything is internal on your truck's alt. so it's either the wireing the alt or a weak fuseable link on the main PWR. wire from the alt.
I reread your first post and you said you replaced the plug do you mean the small clip in plug on the back of the alt.? If so did you make a good connection or splice? Well it is possible that the New Alt. is bad if i were you id'e check it with a meter to see how much it's putting out with the truck in gear @ the bat. |
