Got my ram horns....

I never would have thought that buying a set of 2.5" ram horn manifolds would be hard. Of course I could have bought them new for $145 each, but I love to find bargains. I "thought" I would find a pair for about half that price, or less. Well if your Ebay shopping, it ain't that easy.

Yeah, I know someone will tell me they had a pair laying around I could have had for 10 bucks. Whatever! If you have a pair, and want to make some money, put them on Ebay. I saw a clean pair go for 370.00...

These have had the acc/alt brackets removed, but they aren't port matched. I guess I'll have to do that myself.

I'm still not sure why it has the exhaust putty around a couple of bolt holes. If they are cracked it doesn't show....

If they were stock on the truck, they are 2" long ram's they don't have much value. These are the 2.5" that were available in 63-65 on certain hi-po Vettes, and a few other cars.

One of the reasons they are so sought after is they are the best flowing stock manifold available. If you race in some of the true "stock" classes that require cast manifolds, these are "the" manifold to have.

Tim do a search on Ebay. They aren't bringing a whole lot, but they are selling. Some of the guys doing late model motor conversions are using them....

Not full length headers, they might be close to shorty headers though.

They are definately better than stock (non 2.5) exhaust manifolds...look kewl too.

i thought you had to have the angled versions to fit in our trucks? do those give you enough clearence from the motor mounts to run the exhaust?

next to nothing, unless you find a moron

I gave the shorties from my 82 away and they were not stock, they were rewelded on the outside (GM welds on the inside) and enlarged and smoother (even the collector was knife edged on the inside) and the air tubes ground flush. They did perform nice but jsut that nice, not great. They are in about the same league as the ram horns. The reason why some of them go for a lot of money is because they are correct for early corvettes (the large ones) and people restoring cars are willing to pay big bucks (so if you have a set, find out the casting # and date stamp and check if they came off of anything valueable)

The ram horns were used all the way to the 80 corvette but they are not all equal, only the performance engines received the 2,5" ones. The 2,5" ones were certainly used untill 72 when the LT 1 engine came to it's end. The following year hat the L-82 (that ran allm the way to 80) and I'm not sure if they too had the 2,5" horns, could be. If so, they are pretty plentyfull. Some of them have an ugly bracket on them that is just an addition to the casting and as such can be ground away and smoothed so it barely shows that it was on there.

BTW, I think flatlander racing sells new repros of the ram horns for around 160$ and they are thicker than the stockers. Some guys got some real respectable numbers with those things after some work on them.
