Lightbulb vortech supercharger

Hi hows everyone doing? This is my first post here and i am glad i finally found an awesome truck site!! Most i've found aren't very active. Anyway i'll get to my question now, I've got a 86 c-10 350 with a turbo 350 trans. I was wondering if anyone has put a centrifigal supercharger on a 73-87? I've got a vortech s-trim and was wondering if it was possible to put it on there? I know i would have to convert to serpentine belt but does anyone make a bracket to bolt the charger to a sb 350?? The motor and trans are coming out soon for a build and it's getting all forged etc. I know i would have to upgrade just about everything but i was wondering how well it would work with a carb. I'm kinda a fuel injected guy but i'm ready to try something different. Currently the s-trim is on my 93 mustang but i'm considering taking it off and selling the stang to try this. I just wanted some info before I actually started this project. I'm sure there is room under the hood but if anyone has any info or pics that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site We think alike. My next vehicle is going to be a 87-93 stang Anyways yes the supercharger will fit. No, I don't think anyone makes a bracket to mount it. Most people like roots type superchargers for these types of engines. Yes the charger will work well with the carb. Its turbo's that need EFI to really work well.

Vortech actually makes a "carb-box" Centrifugal Supercharger kit now. I THINK it uses the S-trimm blower.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies. I'm going to call vortech and see if they make a bracket to mount it and if they will sell it by itself. I'll let everyone know how it goes... thanks again.

I beleive this is the system you are talking about. You should be able to make a real sleeper with that combo!!

Yeah that's the kit they sell. I tried to call but it said they are open mon-friday. So I guess i'll call again monday. I'm going to see if they can sell me just the bracket and discharge tube. I'm going for the sleeper look but the s-trim is VERY loud. Most don't know what it is though so maybe i can pull it off. thanks

Now that would be different, at least to me. Seems like this setup would be a PITA for a carbed vehicle. You would essentially have to run the same fueling while in boost and not in boost.

It works fairly well, the boost blows through and by nature the carb richens from what I understand.

Odie82, how's it going? Yes i do have the awesome gixxer 1000! I don't have a good pic yet but it's silver and all stock for now. It's still an awesome bike though! I see the obvious mods but what all do you have done to yours? How do you like that Yosh exhaust? Is it a full system? I'm planning on getting the Tri-Oval high mount as soon as i save up the cash. I've only racked up 1200 miles so far but it's warm weather now and it's time to ride! I raced a ZX12 and he didn't even put a bike length on me up to about 140 and he doesn't stand a chance in the twisties. Are you a member on gixxer.com? I had a 98 gixxer 600 with 20,000 miles and i blew the motor up on it. I then found a smokin deal on a fuel injected 750 motor and swapped it in there. I sold it in October and went bought the last 03 my dealer had. I love it so far! Take it easy and, as always, good to meet another gixxer rider! BTW, your bike looks awesome.

I plan on getting a regulator that is boost sensitive. It should raise pressure by 1psi for every 1psi of boost. I hope that works out ok. Anyone have any suggestions on what carb to use?? Thanks again.
