Chevy Orange & Made in USA

Aaahhhh !!!! There is nothing more satisfying than painting something with Chevy orange. Recently replaced heads and decided to try the new Edelbrock EPS manifold. Edelbrock is doing something new with their manifolds. They are putting a USA logo on them. I know that it sounds weird for me to post a message just because of a sticker. I remeber years ago when stores, like WalMart for example, used to make a big deal about selling products made in the USA. What ever happened to that pride and enthusiasm? Most stores and manufacturers don't do that anymore and just about everything they sell is not made in the USA. So its kinda nice to see someone like Edelbrock doing it. Oh, well, I'll get off my soapbox and stop preaching now.

Wal-Mart used to have a "Made in the USA" campaign. They ended it when everyone figured out that most of the stuff they sell is really made over seas.

Nice paint job BTW!

I used Dupli Color Brand engine spray paint available at a local auto parts store. I begin by using their primer, one coat. Then I give the part a light to medium first coat of orange. About an hour later I give it a heavier second coat. Then I let it air dry in the garage for about 30 to 45 minutes (away from any blowing dust). Then I put the part in the kitchen oven for about 3 hours (open all the windows in the house because it stinks and wife gets aggravated). I start the oven temp off at about 110 and bump it up 5 degrees every 30 minutes or so until it reaches 140 degrees.

It looks great. You can say a lot for chrome engine parts, but I still like the Chevy orange set against clean black tubs and a clean firewall.

Just went and bought a perfomer intake, air cleaner too, few more parts and it'll be a 4-barrel. I'm thinkin about just painting the bolts to add effect to it. Orange on chrome might look cool.

Hey 71 Longbed !!! Sorry that it took me so long to get back on this computer and answer your question regarding the primer. My Dad is in the hospital and work has been hectic. I did use a high temp primer. It was made by Dupli Color. Says that it is ceramic and good to 500 degrees. See pic below.
