i was wondering what the fuse able link was used for and what it connected? I know that it is a safety device like a fuse and that it will burn and not pop like a fuse.....but why do our trucks need one?

correct me if im wrong but i believe it is like an inline fuse

It does act like a fuse. On the trucks there is one for the main feed for the cab. The fusible link wire is four gages smaller than the feed wire so if there is a short, the link will burn in two and not the main wire. Fusible links don't have nuisance trips like fuses can have, so thay don't usually burn in two unless there is a dead short.

So it would be better to keep the fusable link then switch it over to a fuse?
