factory bucket seat poll
I am thinking about making the leap to pay for the tooling to make the 69-72 bucket set foam pads, by doing this I will have an exclusive deal w/ the company (an American company) that makes them and I will be able to sell them for about 1/2 the price of anyone else (around $200.00. for both sides - all 4 peices).
I posted this here because I would like to hear from some people that are in the market for the cushions and what you think, and if it sounds like a realistic price. Thanks in advance for any input you might have Shawn |

200.00 for the cushions and 229.00 for a set of covers (normal price) might make the setup more apealing to a customer and make it worth while for me to start stocking more of the covers. It looks like the cushion deal will happen, I just wanted some feed back from here because this board covers such a broad group of people. Shawn |

seats
Yes, I would be interested in some also, I think most of the seats from this era are junk and need work, most need new seat pads and seat covers, the foam on some that I have is rotted away, a lot of people would be in the market for bucket seat parts including the brackets for both the drivers and passenger seats, my opinion is that if you put a set of factory buckets and console into your 69-72 chev pickup, that are real and not blazer, you just added up to a thousand bucks on the resale of your truck, most 67-68 bucket seats that I have and have seen are junk, it costs a fortune to do anything with these seats, if someone came up with a halfway reasonable way to rebuild these seats you would have a market, theres a lot of these trucks on the road yet, just my input.....................

You might want to check the latest LMC catalog for price comparison.

suburban bench seat covers are about 50.00 more than the regular ones (279.00) because unlike trucks the back of the seat is covered also.

the bucket and truck bench covers are just 229.00 and if you want houndstooth or anything special it isn't anymore money.

Truck and Blazer buckets have different foam requirments. The Blazer foam can be used, but would have to be cut down slightly because the truck buckets are shaped more narrow.
Rick/Shawn, I like your idea there. You should be able to sell them for that price. I also agree with Don Loverink that there needs to be some one who can supply us with correct driver and passenger side truck brackets. Big orange has a supplier for the passenger side brackets, but there is no source I found yet for the drivers side. Don Loverink, I agree that original buckets will increase the price of a truck by $1K or more, but only if the truck came from the factory with buckets. I don't believe that bolting factory buckets in a truck originally equiped with a bench seat will increase the value more than what the buckets and console is worth. |
