Reflection in rear glass???

As I was driving to work today, I noticed the reflection of the glare on the dash in the back window, making the rearview mirror worthless. Is this normal? My back glass is tinted. I don't remember this in my 73, but I didn't drive it much, either. Most of the other 73-87's I have had were either Blazers or Suburbans, and they didn't have the glare. Maybe I am just weird (probably), but I thought I would ask. Is there anything I can do?

I have it in my 86...annoying as hell, but you get used to it eventually.

Same here. The tint makes it pretty much impossible to use the rv mirror. And the superman decal makes it even worse.

It's not so bad in the bright of day, but at night, forget about it.

It's the window tint. That's one more reason for me to leave the 77 un-tinted...

I've got factory tinted windows in my '75, and I find exactly the same thing as you do. My rear view mirror shows a wonderful reflection of the road ahead of me.

my truck does the same thing. i got in the habit of leaving my headlights off until i have backed out of the driveway. the headlights would reflect off of the garage, then the rear window. Looking forward or backwards was a joke. I have gotten pulled over twice now for forgetting to turn the lights on after i left my house.

if you think your backclass in annoying now, my friend has two layers of 5% all the way around his truck. Backing up at night just doesn't happen.

The reason you didn't get glare from the rear windows in the suburbans or Blazers is because the rear window is tilted downward slightly. The vertical flat glass in the trucks reflects terribly. Even with just a light tint it does the same thing.
