How do YOU search e-bay
Hey all. Just curious what everyone out there uses to search e-bay for parts for our trucks. Seem like everybody lists a '69 Chevy truck differently so it can be pretty time consuming to try and go through as many variations as possible. Anymore I'm just typing "69 pickup"

I've simply stayed away from Ebay when it comes to truck parts. I figured when I started this little project that the message board would be my only non face-to-face medium for finding and buying parts, selling parts, etc.
The annonymous attributes of Ebay didn't make me feel very sure about finding stuff I needed. Also, I've heard some scary stories of people spending $500 on what they thought was an original part only to get a $20 aftermarket one. That's just me, though. ------------------ '69 3/4 ton C20 2wd w/ 350ci/400THM and a wood bed! '69 3/4 ton Custom 20 2wd w/ ORIGINAL 350ci/4sp Manual and a wood bed (parts beast). I would just check the Vendors on this site for basic parts, most of the ebay guys start the bidding at the same price as the Vendors and you end up paying more.
You will see hard to find options every now and then, Tachs and Toolboxes etc..so I give it a look over once and while but I rarely buy anything. Use 67 72 Chevy GMC truck to start your search and then you can narrow it down from there. ------------------ 72 Cheyenne C20 Built 350/T350 AC/PS/PB/AT San Diego, CA Pics of My Truck <A HREF="http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/aikidojiujitsu/lst?.dir=/Chevy+Cheyenne+C20&.src= ph&.last=1" TARGET=_blank>http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/aikidojiujitsu/lst?.dir=/Chevy+Cheyenne+C20&.src= ph&.last=1</A> [This message has been edited by dion (edited April 03, 2002).] |

I've noticed that most people post their parts as 67-72, not as many year specific.
I use 72 chev* truck (* gets both chevy & chevrolet) in the search field, and seem to get a lot of items. Of course, I also search for 71, so you should still use 69. Also, I have actually purchased some items from board members through ebay, but I believe that the best deals are found here on the board. ------------------ 71 SWB Stepside Houston, TX

Actually, I've come up with some really great deals over the last couple of years on e-bay including a pretty good price on a trombone and a few parts for my '69 'stang not to mention a TON of model kits.
I've found that if you're careful and keep your head about you when bidding, it's harder to get burned (also I refuse to pay more than $150 Canadian which is slightly less than $100 US without knowing exactly what it is I'm going after). Haven't been burned yet. Greg

you need to look up prices to see what kind of deal your getting, know the parts and never bid until the last min. use key words and look in other catagories for stuff that should be somewhere else. I get lots of great deals on E-bay. Just got 2 new Moog upper ball joints and some tie rod ends for $40. Bought a new Moog pitman arm for $10, Got 2 new rear Caddy discs for my rear wheel disc convertion for $40 for the pair. Lots of good stuff out there
