belt sizes?

i had 73 and up brackets on my truck for the alt and power steering pump... but now i got the correct style for 71 and was wondering how do i figure out the size of the belts? and if anyone knows what size they have on theirs then that could give me a starting point.

Thanks a lot
Rat

if you have the stock 71 setup for the alt and steering an excellent place to start would be your local parts store, walk up to the counter and ask for belts for a 71chevy pickup

thanks, i was going to try that anyways but knowing the auto parts stores around me they cant get anything correct.... even if you tell them what you need 25% of the time they order the wrong thing because they think your wrong..... it is frustrating.

Thanks though

just go in spitting out any info you know about your truck so you look smarter than them (which usually isnt hard to do) then they usually listen. if they dont its fun to lean as far over the counter and stick your nose in the book/computer and make sure yourself

dont worry i have made sure they know i know what i am talking about and then they dont like it and kick me out...... yes i am not allowed in the napa in my town because they tryed to charge me for the wrong parts for my truck becaused they ordered them for me when i told them to order what was correct for the truck...... so i have to go out of my way to get the right parts from a different auto store....

If all else fails, take a piece of rope run around the pullies with the adjustments all the way close, it will get you in the neighborhood so you will have a general idea on the length
