Installed electric fan, engine temp. question

Well I just got done installing a 16" electic fan that I got at my local junk yard. I also put a new temp sender in the block, since the PO didn't have one in it. I cant say how well it works, because I don't have anything to base it on. My question is, how hot does the temp guage read with the stock fan and shroud on a 350? Thanks guys.

Between 180-190 is really good. Mine runs around 200 on a hot day and I don't even worry when it hits 210.

My guess is somewhere just past the middle, that's where they always seem to run when nothings wrong with the engine.

We have had this discussion before about these temp gauges. It seems the consensus is no one really knows. Some peoples gauges read straight up, some people's read just to the first line, and some people's read just past the middle. My suggestion is that you run the vehicle with the cap off and then put a thermometer in your water at the radiator cap when you are at operating temp. Or you could always borrow someones numbered gauges for an afternoon, wire it up and see what it does. Sorry if this isn't much help.

I'm going to put a numbered guage on my truck in addition to the original one, they don't take up too much space anyhow, plus I like to see what the engine is doing. The two most important gauges are the water temp and oil pressure.
