why not just go with a Ram Jet? same basic design, less work.

What you don't spend in money, you will spend in time. My guess is the guy that built that is like Mike though. He "could" buy one, but he would rather make one just to show that he can...

Car Craft did an article on the megasquirt last month. It seemed to work ok for them.
