more parts pics
Well my 71' that was supposed to be a daily driver while I resto my 72' 4x4...is out of control. First I was supposed to just paint it to make it all one color..... and it is just about completely painted with a 1st class two stage paint job. And while it has been at the paint shop I have been blasting and painting everything else...yes even the freekin nuts, washers and bolts oh my. I'm not complaining just laughing at myself. Everything that used to be black in the engine compartment is now hammered silver with Torch red nuts and bolts. I like the color combination of the red and silver and I think it will look good with the Torch red truck. Heres my hood catch:

That's a funny question....if I like my nuts Torch red????
Truthfully..I'm not sure. It may look like TOO much...and then it may look cool. I was bored and felt like painting . If it sucks ass I'll blast em and paint em silver to match. I do for sure like the hammered silver.

Looks Cool!, I like it, pay attention to the details and the rest will take care of itself. Not to mention if you didn't enjoy it you wouldn't do it. ;-)

Was there any special prep for the hammered look, or can I buy that in a spray can and do it myself??

You can do it yourself! The stuff I used was at Home Depot..Rustoleum Hammered finish in the rattle can. I did soda blast all metal to bare and then rattle can primed it. The hammered paint is super easy to use and I had no trouble with runs. I even did the intake in the hammered stuff:

there is actually a funny line between not enoug and too much
First there isn't enough, Then there is too much, Then if you keep going with too much, it somehow transfers into totally sweet. I don't make the rules, I just live by them

I never thought you were knocking it and never took offence to your comment. It made me laugh..do I like my nuts torch red...funny!!!! Honestly, some my think the red nut treatment is over the top..but...what the heck I'm having fun and the 30+ year old truck is going to look tons better than anyone's 04'. The Torch red paint is smokin' and if you lift the hood all the silver and red nuts will kill ya...not to mention the chrome inner fender wells...LOL. Here is the radiator hold pieces which bolt to a Torch Red core support:

I like it, it's the little details that make a truck really nice.

I think the nuts will look fine (I am waiting for a reply to that) That is the best hood latch column I have ever seen.
