Mystery Spring

I pulled the seat out of the 68 last weeknd and I saw a two hooked spring lying on the floor. Anyone know what it is used for? Its located just about center of the seat.

Thanks

If it is what I think it is, it goes from the back of the seat to the seat adjuster. Hope this helps, I just ripped my seat down and there was one there, mine was on passenger side, don't know if it matters.
