Top handling modifications?

Curious as to what the top modifications are considered for 67-72 and 73-87 GM trucks. I like the way trucks ride but also really like to rip around the corners. A few that came to my mind:

1) Disk brakes (if you don't have them - rear too if you already have front ones)
2) Stickier & wider tires
3) Better shocks (especially if you've got the factory ones)
4) Sway bar for rear, heavier sway bar in front
5) Different springs - stiffer ones than stock, lowering
6) New bushings - Prothane or energy

Well, I've done all but the disk brakes (which don't really change anything for cornering) and those are now in progress. While the handling is an amazing improvement over stock, it's still not great. I notice a lot of flex in the chassis that can really only be fixed by adding a cage. At least in cars the body adds a lot of torsional rigidity, but with the bed being separate from the rest of the body on a truck the chassis does all the work. And these old chassis' are just not stiff enough for the task, IMO. If I really wanted to build a 67-72 for handling I'd start with a 2wd Blazer.

The best thing I've done for the handling was buying a Vette...
