I had a guy put on a '94 steering wheel from a fullsize blazer in my truck a few months ago. I lvoe the steering wheel, but the horn doesnt work. I have to fix it so i can pass inspection. I think the guy that put it on got rid of all the misc. parts. I need some directions on how to wire it up and i may also need to get the pieces that i need.

alright, i read the FAQs. seems pretty easy but i dont have the stuff from the donor steering wheel. Anybody got these laying around. I may also need the slip ring from a '72 tilt column.

I used a wheel from a 92 S10 blazer. Didn't need any extra parts. Just "adjusted" the existing termimal to fit over the post type the new horn button had and works great. Much nicer than the semi truck sized wheel that was in there.

I'm in the same situation. I bought a steering wheel from a board member, but it came without the slip ring. I'm not sure what it looks like, so I assume it must resemble the one in the FAQ.

Post a pic of your wheel when you can...maybe we are both looking for the same part!

I just did this,I put a wheel from a 93 Truck on my 67. I used the ring behind the steering wheel and used the newer wheels wire and spring attached to the horn plunger without any trouble at all.took 5 minutes

Did you take any pics? Those of us that have never seen one have no idea what to look for...usually, the interior stuff is pretty much gone by the time the trucks make it to my local boneyards...

A late model turn signal cam does not have the cone shaped taper at the bottom of the cam like the 67-72 signal cam does. If you install a late model cam without the taper, the wheel will be loose, meaning you can move it around when the wheel is fully tightend. I have just cut the little cone off the bottom of the 67-72 turn signal cone and slipped that on first, then just used the late model turn signal cam. It worked for years for me like that.

In my local boneyards, the steering wheel is usually long gone by the time I get there. Finding the appropriate slip ring might pose a challenge. Also, I have a van tilt column that I intend to install the newer steering wheel on when the time comes (I'm doing the frame first).

I have copies of the LMC 1967-1972 Truck and also 1973-1987 Truck catalogs, and they show the horn slip ring ("canceling cam") as being available in both. I just ordered their 1988-1998 Chevy Truck Catalog, but I would imagine it would be listed there as well if you come up dry at the boneyard...
