Question 71 3/4 4x4

I have a friend that has told me about a 71 3/4 4X4 with 55,000 yes it runs doors close and has a utilty bed all for the asking price of...... 1000.00 Now I have not seen this but I trust my Buddy from what he has said there is no rust everything is in great shape it does need some work on the carb it leaks a little. This truck use to be a old Forest Service truck so it's the ugly green.
He said the rearend looks bigger than a 14b. I have no Idea how this would of been setup as to the frontend or the tranny/transfercase for a motor I know it's a V8 and has Marader or something like that on the Valve cover.
Right off hand I think this a great deal but I still want to see it before I do the deal. But if it is what he says it will make a good truck for me to move to Texas the end of this month or the begining of the next.
Anyone have any imput on old Forest Service trucks or what the running gear would be.
Thanks

Cethern
