where does ya'lls exhaust dump out?

going to the muffler shop this weekend and getting my exhaust redone. where do ya'll have yours dump out and why?

Mine dump straight down just before the rear axle, I have 2 chamber Flow Masters with 3 inch tips. I have it that way cause it sounds better, much "throatier" than they were when they dumped out behind the rear wheels.

I have one that goes straight out the back below the rear bumper and one that dumps out below the rear quarter panel behind the wheel. I don't like the one that is straight out the back as well.

Plus don't make your pipes stick further out than your rear bumper and then back into something....

Both mine exit behind the rear wheels. Also check your local inspection requirements, for ex. here in VA the exhaust has to exit 18" past the normally occupied area(cab), outside the frame rails or out the back, so a burb with turn downs wouldn't pass in VA(bet it sounds good though).

1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

In front of the rear wheels either side, as fitted by previous owner. Would not be a good place on a 4x4 though as it would be too easy to crush the pipes against an obstacle.

mine is side exit , ahead of the rear wheels(Hooker headers.2 1/2" pipe,H pipe, running into Dynomax Superturbos. the tail pipes are a 90 (mandral bend) out of the muffs, the are bent 45 around the nose end of the leaf hangers, to kick out the sides at an angle. i like to hear them run, so side exit was my choice. crazyL

My system looks just like Pont's, headers, 2.5" duals, and 40 series Delta Flow flowmasters with turndowns infront of the rear axle.

I like the way it sounds. Fairly quiet until you open it up and then it gets really loud. Has a fairly deep muscle car tone to it....kinda unique, sounds really good and turns heads.

For awhile i had the same system with no turndowns, and it sounded really deep and throaty. Turned even more heads, but was a little loud and kept getting me into trouble so i slapped some turndowns back on it. Quieted it down.

I just had mine redone as the original had rusted a bit too much for my taste. 2.5" duals that turn out and dump just behind the rear wheels. I'm just a little disapointed with how far out the sides of the truck the pipes come. Gonna just cut them short and add tips that turn down.

Guess I'm just different. Mine have Oval tips and exit just under the chrome rear bumper.

Exit behind the rear wheels ahead of the bumper at about a 45 deg angle to the wheels. Don't like the way it looks, something the PO did but other things are more important to fix right now than how aesthetically pleasing the exhaust exits are. Sounds pretty good tho.

Hank - not trying to highjack your thread but I am looking at getting exhaust done on my blazer.

Does anyone have their exhaust dumping behind the rear wheels, but turned down towards the ground? I think Fast71 had a setup that I am referring too. Any pics?

Mine exit just in front of the rear tires, but do not stick out in front of them. I'd prefer that they go straight out the rear, but I've not yet decided where I want the rear ride height to remain. It was easy to replace the rusted glass packs installed by the previous owner and simply turn the pipes out while I get the suspension and rear sway bar matters settled. :p

Mine (single exhaust for now) once exited behind the left wheel, but I cut it short to make room for the overload springs when I put them on... havnet decided how to do it when I go to dual exhaust..

Those turned down ones are cool until you get on a dusty road...... My Chevette has the chambered turned down duals and it will put up a cloud of dust. I'm running open headers at the moment though....problem solved....lol

i got hooker super comp headers going into purple hornies with the turn downs....... so mine exits before the door ends and it aimed twords the ground and out the the side..... more like a 45.... this is temp. but i still need to finish some work and get the engine started.... once i get some money i am going to run dual 2 chamber flows with an "H" or "X" pipe and have them dump just over the rear axle, but aimed a little to the side.

45 Degrees In Front Of Rear Axle, Caution, I Changed This To Where
They Dump Under The Axle Now Due To The Fact I Was Trailering, I
Stopped At Good Old Wally World, Came Back Out To Find A Puddle
Under My Truck, Heated Rear End Oil/grease So Hot It Blew Out Of
The Overflow Hose, All Over My Flows And Underside Of My Truck,
Needless To Say It Was A Mess To Clean-up And For Some Reason
It Is Real Hard To Fill When Your In That Type Of Senario, My $.02
