Rear View Mirror Year (PIC)

Can someone tell me what year this mirror is from? I think the mirror itself is pretty standard through 1971, but the rubber cover for the mounting bracket changed. My question is when? Was there a Chevy/GMC difference?

1979 Honda GL 1000 - retro touring at its best.

Past:
'05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner.
'94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm.
'79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350.
'76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod.
'68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect.
'59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.

This one is the original 1971 Custom Deluxe.
The option list stated Blue cloth trim 607.
1971 was the only year to have the raised pad inside the cab for mounting and I am unsure whether this had any effect on the design.
To answer your question, there must have been some differences in the covers between year models because yours appears to look different from mine. As to whether GMC used the same design? I am unsure.
The covers may have been different with different trim levels.
The last picture has an early style mirror installed in place of the original.

That blue one is the one that came on my two 1970 trucks too...I've seen that plain chrome one, and what I'm thinking is the chrome is 67/68, but the CST may have had the cover in question...I am just looking for confirmation.

I have a mirror of that style in my truck, but mine is a 72. I'm guessing that mine was either a dealer option, or maybe mine was a beginning of that model year since all the later 72's had the mirror glued onto the windshield.

or someone else installed it. I've seen plenty of mirrors that wouldn't stay glued to the glass when it gets real hot out...your truck wouldn't be a south western truck would it Todd?

Thanks for all the help guys. It was exciting to see the pics that demi posted of his '69 GMC because that confirms that the mirror I found at the wrecker is the right one for my truck. I even lucked-out and found the right color cover.
