Which one for 87' 5.7L 350 TBI?

From what I've read, the Holley 670 CFM TBI should only be used w/ the stock aluminum intake manifold. Should I keep the stock intake manifold and add the Holley TBI unit OR install an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold w/ the stock TBI unit...??? Which combination would give the most HP/Torque increase and best driveability?

I also plan to add an Edelbrock camshaft and lifters, timing chain, and shortie headers.

Is there any reason you didnt list the multi point coversion. That would definatley make your engine respond to the cam change not to mention you said you were going to use Edelbrocks cam you can order a chip pre programed for your upgrades.

I don't want to spend much money on the motor right now. However, now that you have posted that, I think I'll bolt-on a Performer intake for now. Being the Multi-Point kit is designed for use w/ the stock TBI, I won't waste my money on the Holley. Thanks, man.

So you're going to go with the Performer setup, and run the stock TB on top of it? The Performer is basically just a STOCK manifold..just aluminum, and MAYBE flows a little better.

Have the stock TB bored (Turbo City offers them but they're expensive) Any knowledgeable machine shop can do it, the throttle plates are available from brasswell in various sizes. You might also want to thin and profile the throttle shaft. Raising the injector pod a bit by installing 2 of those isolator gaskets under it will deshroud the bores a bit (don't go too high, watch where the conical spray pattern hits the bore)

I'll bolt-on a Performer intake for now and upgrade to Multi-Point fuel injection in the future. Thanks for the help, everyone.

I know but it's better than the stock aluminum one. I wonder why the Holley TBI unit can only be used w/ a stock intake manifold...???

I believe it is possible to bore out the Edelbrock intake to 2" from the stock 1 11/16" to accept the holley TBI or a stock unit from a 454 (requires sensor modification.) I have never done this myself, this is just what I have read on other forums.

I just got in and read this post. I tried the Holley TBI unit on my 87 after I installed a Jasper engine and I would not recommend it at all. It was a PITA because there was a plate that had a center screw that held both injectors in place and no matter how much you tightened the screw you could still mash it down to were it needs to be. I agree I would go with the Edelbrock MPFI system when your money is right or just get the Holley NOS setup..lol

The Edelbrick MPFI still flows through the narrow, stock TBI. Not much CFM.

yeah, but it's dry flow... TBI is wet flow so roughly a 7% increase
