Emblem Removal

On a 67-68, what is the best way to remove the "Bowtie 10" emblem on the fenders? It does not look like it would be easily accessed from the back. Can they be "popped" off from the front? Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, they're held on with what I always called a speed nut.(stamped from sheet metal) You'll have to go in from the rear side of the fender, if there's room. Or loosen the inner fender well and go in from that side. If ya have an air ratchet, ya might not have to remove the fender well. Hope this helps? Oh yea, the nut is 3/8" or 7/16".

On my 71, I put electrical tape on the tip of a screwdriver and slid it in behind and it came off very easily. Don't know about your years for sure, though.

OhioDan has it nailed, at least thats how mine were. The p.o. of my 67 sub had tried the tape on the screwdriver method and bent the fender and broke a stud off the back of the emblem.

i took my (drivers side) emblems off by opening the hood and squeezing my hand in between the fender. However, i had to remove about 5 inner fenderwell bolts and pull it apart to get the passenger side. You dont have to remove it completely, just enough to get your hand into the fender. dont pop them off ,youll break them. they do have "speednuts" on them like OHIODAN said. after you loosen them, the nuts come off easy by hand, 3 or 4 turns ,,,,,,,,,, jeff
