you have the 73 and up alt bracket on it, or the 69 - 72?

69-72 style (to the best of my knowledge) i had a 73 and up..... the more i looked at it today i noticed the alt hits the head (not sure if a valve cover will fit or not) and the pulley for the alt. lines up soo far bar that it looks like it should be going to the harmonic balancer or just in front of it...

Please someone i need help i just want my truck to run and drive again

Thanks
Rat

this is what my alt. brackets look like. it is a 72 c10 350.
I would actually appreciate it if anybody else out there knows the part number on this style of bracket as I want to use the same ones on my chevelle. makes some work easier since the alt isn't connected to the water pump or the exhaust.

Todd: thank you very much... just wondering why do you have 2 groove pulley on you water pump? is that for A/C? and on the crank pulley do you have 3 groves and the most inboard one touches the harmonic balancer?

As for the brackets look in the cup of the bracket and there will be a casting number and then you have to look around for the same number..... i dont know if they make these aftermarket i found mine at carlisle for $10. best of luck

Thanks and if anyone else has pictures of sujections please express them

Rat

This is a pic of what my set-up looks like and my problem if you can notice the pulley for the alt doesn't line up with any of the crank pulleys. All the other pulleys seem fine just the alt doesnt line up with anything.
I hope this works

Hi Rat,
I think you need the crank pulley from a short water pump set up. Don't have a picture handy, but my crank pulley's back groove is right tight to the damper. My alternator is bolted to the front of the exhaust manifold in the same position as the one in the other picture. I can't tell from your picture, do you have the short water pump? I think with that alt. mount you have to use the short pump. Gord

if i use a crank pulley from a short pump then my water pumps pulley doesnt line up with anything that will adjust it..... i also figured out the problem... i found an old alt in lur basement that was bad and it has 3 grooves on it and the second one lines up with the water pump and everything else fine.... now my problem is my alt hit the valve cover, thats only a little problem compaired to my engine fire and fire throwing exhaust today.....

Thanks for everyones help
Rat
