upper moulding clips

has anybody ever had any luck with these aftermarker upper moulding clips?I bought a complete set from a vendor here on the board, that is very reputable, and either im not doing something right or these have got to be the biggest piece of $hit things i have ever seen. The push in ones dont even hold, they just pull right back out.And ive broke like 5 or 6 of those tiny wires off of some. What the hell is the deal?Does anybody sell a set that is worth a crap?I dont mind buying some if they work.Dammit this has me pissed off.

Mike : you are not alone ,as I mentioned in my post on BB , the upper molding kit I got was the pits ,almost every spring broke when installing the clips and the pushin .

I went to the Truck Shop and got their clips and pushins worked great.

I ordered the bed side kit ,69-08407 .and 69-08404 ,I cleaned up and reused some of the original screw type clips also. I took the fiber washers off the broken new clips and put them on the original ones.

I went a different route when I put the trim on my truck. I purposely didn't go with the push-in clips. When I had the truck painted I made sure to get good paint coverage in the trim holes as they are prone to rust. So, I didn't want to scrape off the paint with the push-in type clips. I used the screw-type clips on the upper trim where I could get to the nuts. I could get to all the nuts on the fender moldings, except the one nearest the door. I could also get to the nuts on the cab corner trim on the passenger side. I couldn't get to the one's on the driver side cab corner because the gas tank filler neck was in the way. Of course you can't get to any of the bed trim nuts. Where I couldn't get to the nuts I used the adhesive clips. For some reason the adhesive clips have gotten a bad rep but I haven't had a single problem with them in over 2 years. Also, they cause the trim to stand proud of the body by about 1/32" which lets any moisture that gets under the trim to quickly dry out.

I didn't like the new clips much either. I have some NOS GM moulding here though and it has the same crappy clips. Nothing like the originals. I used most of the originals and then used all of the stick on clips for the top trim. Stick ons due make the trim stay out from the body a bit.

The adhesive clips I used came with the trim set I bought from Kings Parts. I'm not sure if he sells them individually. He's listed on the Board's Parts Supplier page but I noticed the link didn't work, so I don't know whats up with that.
