when done properly, and by a professional, they can be ok. i've seen way too many trucks that the owner thought he was going to bee cool and do his own body drop. 99% of the time, they end up trashed. wether it be crappy looking welds, warped sheetmetal, or just plain old hillbilly engineering. i have seen more than one truck with pieces of angle iron riveted to the floor and the cab walls. the owners both stated that they wanted to do it themselves, but couldnt weld. besides, what is the point? you're already only and inch or so away from the ground anyways, do you NEED that extra inch?

i've always thought spending countless hours on bodywork, only to support the body in the rocker panels was a good idea.
i seriously dont see a huge difference between a truck laying rocker, and one that just lays frame. not enough to warrant cutting out your floors, bedfloor, and hacking your core support for that extra inch. makes absolutely no sense to me. too much work for too little outcome. i fully agree, a bagged truck is cool, but bodydrops are beyound me. |
