Minimum amount of space between axle and frame??

On my 75 C10, how much space do I need between the axle tube, and the framerail, before I need to add a C-Notch? Would 2" Be too little space and I would run into bottoming-out problems?

If you don't mind it beating the heck out of the frame 2" isn't bad..

I went 3" on mine and the guys I purchased my 4link from said 3" as well. If you have a heavy setup of a suspension you should be able to get away with 2" but always keep in mind if you load it up to check how much room is here so not to damage anything.

so is the essence of the opinion of this mod is ... if you flip your rr axle.... "C" notch the frame?? I dedeuce correctly???

Yes, you deduce correctly. I used a shackle in the lower hole and a 5" flip kit, which gave me a 6" drop. I had 2-3/4" left in clearance between the frame and axle tube. I drove it this way for a few weeks. After one too many teeth rattling, bone jarring bumps, I installed a notch.

install a notch in that thing and be done with it.

Well, right now, I have a FULL 5" of distance between the top of the axle, and the frame, so I think if I do the WC Shackles, and put them in the bottom hole and get the 1" of drop or so, I'll be ok. I probably will end up notching it though...

I have 2 1/2" tween the axle & rails on my longhorn. it hasnt caused any problems, but those old leaf springs were pretty stiff. i do agree with the rest of the guys tho, you need a minimum of about 3" for a civilized ride. crazyL

is the 2" measurement with truck on load to ground? from bump stop to rail?

From frame rail to axle housing unloaded, I think that is the question your getting at. Thats not a whole lot of room especially with trailing arms and stock style springs, 200lbs will drop this pretty close to an inch and if you hit a pot hole or something it'll hit the frame.. BANG! You now have a dent housing and a little more clearance.
