At last! The Resto begins

I have had my 72 Shortbed BB truck for 6 years now. In that time I have collected thousands of dollars worth of parts and I am happy to say that I have finally taken the big leap of faith and started the actual refinishing process!

I am sure I will have many questions over the next 6-8 months most certainly during re-installation. I wanted to extend a big thanks to you all this far. Without the help of this board it would be near impossible to do the same quality of restoration. Not to mention the cost of having to re-do something that you may be unsure of.

Here are a couple of shots of my first batch of powdercoated parts. I have the body slotted in at the body shop in the middle of next month.

Great job on the powder coating. Just from how nice all those parts look you are going to have one good clean looking truck. How long did it take to finish all those parts? I have done a couple of small parts like pullys and valve covers, but how did you bake that rear end housing what equipments did you use and how long did it take to bake?

chevytruckfan. I cant take the credit for the powdercoating I used a powdercoating company here in town to do it. Thanks for the feedback.

I have found that... unless you have a flawless peice of metal to start with, the semi gloss looks much better than the Gloss finish. If the peice that you are powdercoating has any texture or imperfections such as a bit of rust pitting the semi gloss is the way to go. Having that said I used gloss on all of the engine components IE. pulleys, air cleaner, and all the brackets and I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

Haha Yeah I do that all the time. It kills me! haha

While I am putting lowering springs on might as well rebuild the front end and put all new poly bushings in, etc, etc! Man what a money pit!

But I love every minute!.

I feel your pain. But not to worry...Everything will eventually get put back together and you will be able to look at your beautiful truck and know that you did 'that'.

With the help of this board I'm sure you will get it together ,the people on here kept me going and enthused about getting my truck looking good .
You might want to pick up a 1967-72 Chevy Truck FACTORY ASSEMBLY MANUAL ,if you don't already have one ,They are hard to navigate but when you find what you want they are great.
