Pulling to the right when braking?
Hey guys I am a newbe to the site..... I have to say that this place Rocks!
My ride has been pulling to the right HARD... I replaced the both rotors & pads today. The thing is still pulling to the right, it's not a constant pull.. probably 50% of the time when I brake. Anyways the only thing I believe I have left is the calipers? I was wondering which one should I replace the left or the right.... my guess would be the right!?!? Or just do both...... ? My tires and wheels are newer, I don't think this would be the problem either. Thanks in advance for your input, Anthony |

if you are going to replace rotors do both. make sure you both sides are bled properly and also make sure you dont have a crimp in the lines.

Replace the calipers and brake hoses. Rebuilt calipers are cheap enough. It's a good possibility you have the hose on the drivers side collapsing or clogged. When this happens, it shuts off the brake fluid to this side and the passenger side is the only one working.

Check the back brakes as well. A hung adjuster can cause issues like this. I recently had this problem on my 3/4 ton burb It showed upo bad while having ina 2k trailer behind the truck and making some hard stops. wasnt very noticable with the truck unloaded.

if it's pulling to the right, the left caliper could be seized...

I got the same problem on "Ye Old Reliable" , it always pulled to the right , when it blocked once and for good : the right caliper was toast !
I bought 2 rebuilt calipers and new front brake pads from "Car-Quest" , for about 183€ ( almost 200 US$ ) it was solved... the Baron

I had a similar problem last year. It would pull one way, then straight, then the other way when applying and releasing the brakes. New calipers and hoses did the trick. Memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think the rebuilt NAPA calipers were $15 each and the hoses about $30 a piece...

Like has been said, it's probably your hoses. Mine did the same thing, and it turned out to be the rubber hoses. They look fine from the outside, but the inside diameter had shrunk up on one of them, causing a restriction in the system.
Calipers are so cheap, you should probably replace both the calipers and the hoses.

Go with the hoses and do the changeout. This is a mojor problem with these Chevy trucks. At one time or another we have all seen it.
