most everything is the same, you might have a little bit of problems if you switch headlights, but other than that it should be fine

The GMC and Chevy grilles will interchange completely from 88-98 (plus a few 99 classic trucks and 2500HD and 3500s, Tahoe, etc..) The only thing different between the 2 grilles are the corner marker lights. The trucks had a grille revision in 94. The older trucks (88-93) can be updated to the newer style but some pieces must be changed. In fact, in Mexico Chevy trucks and SUVs are sold with a grille that looks like a GMC grille, but the emblem is a bowtie instead of a GMC badge.

The new body style trucks are not so similar with different headlights, and fenders.

Thank you for your answer. Next question, are the grills for the Chevys sold in Mexico available in the U.S.A. maybe through Chevy dealerships?

No, you can't buy them from US dealers. I have seen them for sale in shops in TX though. They look like they are the same grille as a GMC, but they have a wide round emblem with a bowtie that fits over the GMC letters. They kinda look funny to me. If I was gonna put a GMC grille on a Chevy I would just put the billet insert in the middle and do away with the emblem.

A 94=98 grille will fit, but you need to change some other parts too: "You will need a 94-98 center filler, r/s l/s fender fillers, new corner lights, park lights, bowtie and if you want it perfect the center bumper brackets, but you can get away with the bumper brackets if you don't mine the filler sitting close to the bumper." That's quoted from a friend of mine on the 454ss.com site Someone asked the same question and he's done it once already.

The Mexico grilles are GMC with a Chevy Bowtie that covers the GMC section on the grille. Should be no problem to get the emblem from a Chevy dealer south of the border. Talked to the parts department in Puerto Vallarta when I was there, and a couple guys at the dealership spoke english. Got some real cool new vehicle fliers too.

You only have to change the other parts if you are upgrading from the older grilles, 88-93.

actually, if you have a GOOD GM counter person, you can get Mexico parts here in the states. i ordered a set of headlight motors for a Mexican built '90s Cavalier when i worked at the dealership. same headlight setup that we get here in the States, only on a Sunbird.
