need some help QUICK

I am installing a new throttle cable. I ordered a new cable for a 4x4 seeing how my 350 is in the inline 6 position. It looks to be even longer than the cable I removed!!! Will this thing work ??
the new cable is on top and the old inline 6 throttle cable is on the bottom with the mounting bracket

You may be able to get it to work like the one I first used when I put a cle inmine so I had to go out and find something much shorter because it was binding, but it might probally look a little awkward being all cramed to make it work. I thought I read a while back that the 4wd cable was longer than the regular cable something like 11 inches or 3in longer, don't remember.

We have a q-jet mounted on top of a 350. We bought the 4x4 cable because all 4x4'x from these years came with the engine in the rear mounted location and thought a new 4x4 cable would work. But it just doesn't look like it's right for this application.

Things will work out, trust me. You'll learn what not to do in the process, but it's a learning experience every time. You should see the crankshaft that I twisted.

Tim, I don't know if these help at all, but here are pics of my 2 near-stock 72 4x4's with the 350. One has an edelbrock carb, the other the OE qjet. Also included is a pic showing engine location in reference to firewall and RH frame.
