over the cab running lights?

my 72 cheyenne super C20 has a spear type of emblem on the hood. It is chrome and about 10" long.I havent seen one on a truck yet.I also have (over the cab running lights).I am not seeing many trucks with that option either. There also is 3 gas tanks, one behind drivers seat, and one on each side of the truck. If anyone has 3 tanks how does your electrical switch separate the three tanks as they are being used on the fuel guage. I have an aux. switch that works fine on the main tank ,but seems to be shorting out when I try to set it to one of the other tanks.Do both aux. tanks have fuel sending units?

I doubt the hood thing is stock...never seen anything indicating that in the literature.

Those running light on the cab, are there little ridges-maybe that's the wrong word-around them, like that's the only difference in the cab-I mean-they have to be there? My friend has one of these cabs he's parting out. It's fairly clean, but there is a hole in the dash that I think a factory PTO switch was. There is an after-market PTO mounted under the dash and the truck had factory PTO It's a '69 1 ton duelly.

I think what pritch might be trying to say is if thy are on a raised round mounting pad in the sheet metal, they should be stock.

I dont have the raised metal around the running lights on my roof .Is there any chance that they would be stock installations. They seem pretty old, around the age of the truck.I dont have any Pics right now other than the ones on my web page that can be viewed by clicking on my signature. The lights are direct wired to the light switch, not on any toggle.let me know if anyone has info.

My roof is raised for each light as well, every one that I've seen is. I've been told that if they aren't raised then they're aftermarket.

I have to agree with that. I would say that 95% of the after market running lights are more of a teardrop shape than the more round factory ones.

the marker lights with the raised bumps appear on the option sticker...the teardrop lights (like on franko72's) were a dealer/aftermarket add-on and don't appear on the option sticker. at least this is applicable for 69-72...before that, anything was possible.

Your cab-lights are not factory. They were an option, but rare.Dual wheel trucks all had them(ICC reg.).Yours are aftermarket type. What is this spear on the hood?I can`t see it in your picture. Is it on the side?It isn`t factory, but I`m curious.Alot of guys were putting Monte Carlo hood ornaments from these years on trucks.Looks like your truck was a little dolled-up old-school style.I think it`s cool.

these items were already on the truck when I bought it and seem to have been there for a long while.as far as the hood ornament it may be from something dated pre 70s. whoever installed it sure made it look original.the chrome is pitted on the lights and the ornament ,I guess that was why I thought that they could have been original. Check out the big air horn on top of the cab and the search light. I am wondering if the search spotlight was factory? It was a pretty neat old truck , I have about $1,500.00 invested in it so far.Everything works,I get a lot of looks from chevy truck fans .a person cant help but love these old trucks.
