No I'm not talking about Chris' new girlfriend. I'm talking about my 6.0 intake that just got here. She isn't very pretty, but she will make some torque when bolted to my LS1. I just have to figure out how to beat the ugly off of it...

Ken, since you're into dropping lots of coin, just call Troy Trepanier. some of the air cleaners i've seen come out of his shop are simply amazing, i think whipping something up for your situation would be fairly easy.

Trying to get on Troy's waiting list isn't easy. He has built such a rep that it's a loooong list. The guys at Stoked Out Specialties may not have the name that Troy does, but they are pretty good with metal, and getting better as they go.

The work they did on the switch panel for my 77 would be a good example. They just built anther one similiar to it for a Buick Special they are building for the Power Tour. Hopefully I'll get pics soon....

That intake is as good as the F.A.S.T. LSX intake. There is a great write up in this months Chevy HiPerformance.

I tthink your right that is oogly, I haven't personally touched an LS1 but I had heard some were made out of plastic, is yours? if not you can always have it powder coated or put a bag over it.

By the way how are you making out with the frontend conversion and getting all your parts?

The intake is plastic pieces. That is the 6.0 intake, the ls1 intake looks 10 times better.

Yeah, all the new intakes are composite pieces. I had suspected for some time that the 6.0 intake would make a god "truck" intake because of it long runners. My thoughts were that it would create more torque. I had actually tried to find a 6.0 but couldn't, so bought the LS1 intead.

After doing some research I decided this would be the way to go. Not only does it flow "almost " as good as the high dollar F.A.S.T. LSX intake, it creates almost as much hp, and about the same amount of torque at a more usable RPM.

Another reason I wanted it is because it is taller. All the F-body, Corvette stlyy intakes look nice, but they are very low profile. I wanted something tall that looks like it belongs under the hood of a truck.

If ya'll know anything about me, you know I won't rest till it works good and looks good too...

AirMale I did read that article. That's what convinced me my theory was correct. I had read info on the net, but the article was a direct comparison.....

Yea, now you gotta go find truck accessories to use with the truck intake. lol But you can usually find ppl wanting to swap ya accessories.

It should look good when done.

Yes the 6.0 creates more tq, but it depends what you're using it for, if you're into cruising like i'm sure you are, then yea, the 6.0 is the right thing, but the "car" intakes are more of a "upper" rpm useage, like racing would.

Nope, only the vettes are wire. (well up to 02, after 02, the trucks might be, not sure).

I looked at a dually the other day and it didnt have a throttle cable. but it was brand new.

Reason i ask i would like to put a 6.0 in my 85 one day and i noticed that new truck drove by wire so the older ones 03 and prior are cable drive?

at least 99-02 are all cable except vette. The 03 and up i'm not sure, might be wire.

But the 02-03 LQ9 is the 6.0 to have. but you can get an older LQ4 if you want (still a 6.0 but less power and I believe the lq9's are aluminum headed, not 100% sure, but EVERYONE wants the lq9 heads).

EDIT

for when ever you go looking here are some specs.

99-01 lq4 is 300hp/355tq
02-03 lq4 is 325/370
02-03 lq9 is 345/380

Yeah my goal is to get a harness out of a 3/4 ton with a 6.0 and get the auto overdrive to go along with it or a 5 speed.

Yeah, since i believe the 3/4 have the 4l80e, its quite a bit different then the 4l60e, so you'll need the harness, get the tranny comp and i forget what else, but its like swapping tranny, eletronics and all.

03 and newer engines are drive by wire. All you would have to do in change the thottle body to a 99-02.

Or you just use the DBW computer. I considered that option my self, but it was expensive to buy, and expensive to program to my application...

Thanks Brandon. Yeah they do some really nice work. Roger the shop manager has been doing this for a long time, and he has a good eye for detail.

Yes they do have my 82 Blazer there. I would love to have it ready for next summer, but I don't know if it will make it. I keep slowing them down by taking my 77 in for more work.

The Scott's IFS we ordered for the Blazer is finally there. After they get back from Power Tour, the frame comes out and the IFS goes on....
