A 1/2 ton with 44's. Sounds like a very bad idea to me. Driving down paved streets is probably enough stress on that running gear, don't even think about taking it off-road.

My cousin bought a 73 K5 with 44s once still had the 12 bolt out back with a D44 up front And to top that off it had a hopped up 427 tall deck ..
Long story short the front spider gears stripped out and trashed the ring and pinion in the process . Not the wisest idea on half ton stuff. |

ah, a 8o somthin s-10 tahoe with a built 305 and 1 ton axles sittin on 44 in. super swampers. Thats me in the pic. This thing is one bad mother.
