Ot Need Truck To House Wiring Help.

About 3 year's ago I cut out a dash from a rusted truck I was parting out I have tried to sell it but got no bite's...So I stipped it down to bare metal and am in the process of restoring it and thought it would be cool if I could hang it on the wall and plut the dash in to a standard household socket and make the light's light up in the cluster-heater-and stereo.. Has anyone done this before??? Any help would be great as the dash is almost done just waiting on the 2nd coat of paint...

Pick up a 12-volt converter from Radio Shack or you favorite electronics warehouse and wire it up. Depending on how many lights you plan on using a 5-amp unit should work.

doorbell Transformers arent always 12 volts

and you dont nessacarily have to buy a power supply you can build one but isnt awlays worth it Basically just need a transformer and a darlington power transistor and the correct zener diode and a resistor you can change the diode to get different voltage for instance a 12v yeilds 12 and so on id aim for 13 14 volts so they lights are crisp and arent all dull and yellow like they are in the trucks when there not getting full volts.

Pretty sure a doorbell transformer is 24v AC.

What your looking for is a 12v power supply, 5 amps is actually a pretty sizeable one.

I think if I were to do this, I would install new low volt ac backlights, and install a transformer to the back of the dash so it could plug in to any wall outlet. Or even better install LED lights and power it with a small wall wart.
