where does this wire go??

I am at the shop right now and this is the last wire to hook up, now where does it go to? Does it ground to the rad support or does it feed back to the battery? And if it goes to the battery, which terminal?

You guys are the best...1 more question

Fuel lines.

Why do I have 2 lines coming to the front of the frame and only 1 port to hook them up to on the fuel pump?
This is a pic of my 72 parts truck that has the same set up

Actually the red wire goe to the pos. battery cable. that thing it connects to is the power junction box. It runs a lot of different things. I'm not sure, but I think the alternator might connect back through there also.

Yes. The 3/8 line should go to your fuel pump. The other should be 5/16th and can be deleted, assuming you don't have a return line from fuel pump. After 70 or so, a return line to the tank was used on 1/2 tons, helped with vapor lock and emmissions stuff.

I've got my return line plugged off as well, no problems to speak of, and I have dual tanks now!

re. fuel vent line. If you just plug this cannister line solid on a 72, you may have created a venting problem as these trucks were vented thru this line. So what you might want to do is route it upward away from exhaust, spark potential, etc and put a vent cap on the hose so as to allow the tank to breathe. Plugged, you will probably get a huge hiss when you open your correct 72 tank cap. Another option is to plug the line solid but use an early tank cap which is vented. YOu then sometimes may get gas vapors from the cap so ---your call just want to make sure you don't fix one problem and create another--been there done that all too often!! Huck

Dubie, throw that wire away and replace it with a fusible link. Someone has done away with the fusible link on your truck. It's what protects that circuit.

Running no fusible link is like wrapping all your fuses with aluminum foil. They are too important to negate them.

"THAT" wire, if allowed to ground against anything, will reduce the wiring harness to garbage. I can testify to that event, in that the alternator end got against my headers and the whole harness had a soft "glow" about 6AM one morning. Also, the engine will die, when the wire is grounded. If a fusible link is appropriate, go for it. Whatever came in my NEW harness, is what I installed. The new harness also had clips that route the harness out of harms way and restrain it to prevent the "uh-oh" that fried my harness and made for a bad day.

Make sure that you clean, wire brush, or whatever is handy, the terminal block that the wires attach to. Also, make sure that the insulator is good. GM doesn't have any of them available, to my knowledge, nor did I find a replacement part.

I didn't have a pair of wire cutters (diagonal cutters, aka "dikes") handy, so grabbing a glowing wire is NOT recommended with bare hands. Did that. But, saved the truck in the process, so everything has a price.
