When I brake hard my truck vears to the right, it is good when I am getting off the highway... helps me turn on the exit. But I think it my be a little dangerous otherwise. What causes this, and how do I fix it?

Probably have air in the brake lines. Bleed them and check for leaks.

Your brakes may just eb adjusted unevenly. If it pulls to the Right, then give your brakes a click or 2 on the Left side to even it up.

That is usually your broke hose wont let the pressure back off the caliper so when you brake the one is locking up quicker than the other one thus the hard pulling

Do the pads or shoes need replaced? any screetching or grinding?There are a number of things to check.An inspection of the front and back brake system should be the first thing you do.The rear could have a faulty adjuster that does not respond with its opposite side, throwing off the rear adjustment. When the emer. brake is applied it is suppose to adjust the rear shoes , maybe one side is tighter than the other.A frozen Caliper in the front will make it pull also to the opposite side. Good luck

No the pads and discs are fine, I just replaced the pads a year ago. The rear drums were just turned last week and replaced the shoes. The rear adjusters were replaced as well. The brakes in this truck have always been a little iffy. I do know that the master cylinder was replaced by the P.O. There is also a tight bend in one of the lines coming from the master in the cylinder I wonder if this could be the cause.

what about the front calibers? maybe one could be sticking.You could get the system power flushed to get any air out and replenished with new brake fluid.You could also recondition your calibers with a brake hone and some new seals.process of elimination.

as far as the tight bend , when you try and bleed the brakes if there was a restriction in the line due to a tight bend I think that maybe there would be less or no brake fluid coming through the bleeder valve at one side .The proportioner valve could be faulty also. good luck.

It is not in the rear if one was grabbing the rear end would kick out it is in the front. a caliper or a brake hose like I had said earlier. I have had this happen a few times on the various work trucks I have owned. If could be a caliper. Could be a brake hose. If you use the brakes a number of times and it doesn't happen and then it does. Its a brake hose that is not lettingthe pressure release and you get a build up until the caliper locks. First time it ever happened to me I was coming to a stop at a light didn't have a strong hold on the wheel and ended up in a yard. Air in the lines will give a number of different feelings from a hard break to a soft mushy pedal but it will be a uniformed feeling. Look at the front side that is pulling

It was the caliper on mine it pulled to the left when I hit the brakes the right caliper was not working. Only the left caliper was working causing a pull to the left when stopping.
