Problem?
I ran into a slight hangup on the restoration process. It appears that previous owner got into a "slight" accident and bent the front of the frame rail on the driver side. The front crossmember is now slightly out of position. It seems that previous owner decided to fix this problem of a bent frame rail by heating said rail and beating on it with a rather large hammer. Rail is still bent, and as a result of the beating, is bowed rather violently in two places. Then he welded the crossmember in place. I really don't know if this is going to be a problem or not. Can I just leave it how it is? Any ideas?

It's a catastrophic success.

As long as the front bumper will bolt up most of that "beating" will be under the core support, but you might take a big cressent wrench and straighten up some of the abuse.

I agree is should be o.k. but you may want to run a tape across the frame side to side to see how out of square it is if at all it may not have affected the rest of the frame..

I have the exact same problem on my Jimmy, except it is on the other side. I tried beating it back into shape with a hammer, my rail isnt straight, it angles out to one side. It looks like the PO had the bumper bolt hole welded up then rechromed. I am fussy about things like this. I am worried that the bumper won't sit straight, if that doesnt bother you then just leave it the way it is.
