i hate murphy!!!
went to put brakes on the new burb today. hmm no floor jack...oh yeah one of my sons borrowed and never returned. well i wanted a better one anyway.
went to auto parts place and all the floor jacks were on sale...except the one i wanted. (heavier duty and higher lift). got home garage is so full of misc. junk ill do it out in the gravel. (slight slope) got left rear done no problems. couldnt get right rear up without jack slipping. finally using a jackstand and a little lift at a time up she went. probably shoulda blocked front tires. got the tire off and was taking off the drum and burb started to roll forward...it came off the jack and jackstand. closed eyes (my lincoln was about 3 feet in front of it, it stopped short) it busted my new jacks front metal wheels and punched a 3 inch hole in rear door sill...so much for the pristine sill. well i managed to get it all up and sitting on stand (blocked front tires this time) then it started to rain. i got it done and adusted, picked up all my tools and cleaned up my mess. went inside to take a shower...that felt pretty good for a bout 60 seconds then the water went cold...my honey was doing laundry today...im just going to sit here in my chair for rest of day. |

I hear ya. I had a jack slip on me in my old Taurus on the side of the road. I don't know if that jack originally came from a Yugo or what, but it was Not meant for that car. Luckily... Upon removing the tire, I stuck it under the car. No damage to car or tire. Just enough clearance to jack it up again.
