WTB eaton rear-end fill plug
That's what I need. Mine's almost rounded off. It still seals but is a pain to remove/install. I'd like one that's nice and square. Thanks,

Isn't that a 1/2" NPT pipe plug with a square head? Hardware store should have one.

Nope it's a lot bigger and has a flange that seats on the cover.

Well the good thing is you know a previous owner filled the fluid at least once....bad news is I guess they only had one tool....vise grips....lol
I probably should have picked up a few of those in junkyards over the years. |

Dean, I went through and checked all the fluids this weekend, just to see how it was doing and had to use the vice grips to get that sucker off. I figure somebody should have one sitting around.

I welded a nut to the last one that was rounded off. Wasn't pretty, but it was functional....

I bought a school bus yellow parts truck with a purple painted diff cover once . I'd say if that color combo is on your short list, go with chrome!

The plugs Chevy Duty sells will fit. That's where I got my replacement when the flange started breaking off.

Seriously, those chromies are weaker than stock diff covers...when I got my dana 60 front, the stock cover was dented so deep that it almost touched the ring gear. I guess I will have to build a custom thick one. Also, a guy on Pirate 4x4 built a diff cover for his Eaton out of a sewer pipe endcap (not chrome ). I think I am going to do something along those lines myself.

sorry bout that, didn't mean to bash ya...I just think they're gay cuz they aren't as thick as OEM (which isn't that good anyway, IMO). I also dislike when some people want to make their entire vehicle out of chrome, which yours obviously aren't. But I'll shut up now.
No hard feelings.
