lowering carrier bearing

I've had the offroad shop confirm what some had said here... after lifting the rear of my '89 suburban 1/2ton 2wd, I have a vibration at low speed that is coming from the carrier bearing.

How can I drop the carrier bearing? Has somebody actually done this on a suburban or I guess crew cab truck (or any truck that has the 2-piece shaft w/ carrier bearing).

The bearing is on top of the crossmember and I"m not sure if I can easily drop the cross member. Need to look at it more tonight.

Thanks!!
