Exclamation courtesy light ??

Edit: Solved - Was not my courtesy light after all
it was a bulb from the old heater control that fell
down next to the courtesy light.

Does your courtesy light under the ash tray that lights the floor
stay on when you have your park or head lights on (doors closed
and light switch is not turned to on position for these lights)?

what would be the problem if this is not to be on ?
.
. also this problem:

Mine only comes on if the door(s) are open or its switched on with the headlight knob. I would think it would be a faulty headlight switch? But I would see what others have to say about it first.

Yeah, sounds like a bad switch to me too... Just figure out which wire goes to your roof light, and combine the two wires if you don't wanna go buy a new switch...

Courtesy Light

Bill;

Check the switches on the door jams to see if they are rusted. I had this problem with my 78. I would go around a corner and the light would come on, or it would not go out at all. I put new switches in both of my 78's and it solved the problem. I just ran out to my truck and grabed the box. The part number is 14014578 - group 11.950. GM Parts direct has a list price of $6.16. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the part numbers, I gather all those i can find.
GM parts direct price is now 3.08ea, good price.

although i'm not sure it's the jamb switches. I tested them with my dome/ new style mirror. but will keep in mind cheap enough to replace.

I am leaning toward the headlight switch due to I was messing with it
and the light went out momentarly.
