Coil Resistor Wire
My coil reads: "12V External Resistance Wire Required". My coil is feed from a yellow wire out of the harness. How do I know if this is a "Resistance" wire. I keep reading about a "white braided" wire. Thanks, Joe Bob.

Joe Bob,
The best way to be sure is to use a volt meter to measure the voltage. If you measure around 12.6 volts, your wire is not a resister wire, if it measures around 9 volts, it is the correct wire with correct voltage. If you run the full 12 volts, it will burn up the points. (real fast) If you do not have a volt meter, you can pick one up at most discount stores for less than $15.00. Good luck! Kelly

It is--it is spliced into the resistance wire in the harness as the yellow wire also goes to the starter "R" post so that you get a full 12 volts when cranking for easier starting --when starter is released the current flows from ing. switch through the resistance wire to yellow wire to coil.
