94 350 swap into an 86 K10 ?
How much of a hassle is it to swap in a 94 350 with fuel injection into an 86 K10 ? I have a good motor with 45,000 miles on it that I would like to use, but I do not have the computer to run it. My truck has 110,000 miles on it and runs good but....I like the fuel injection. Thanks

If you are willing to move all the computer stuff over, it can be done. You may also have to take the transmission and move it over as well as it is also controlled by the computer, and as far as I know, computers don't like random things being cut off, lol

the shortblock is a direct bolt in, however the heads are a bit different, but can be made to work. if you want the EFI, you're going to have to get a whole EFI setup, or whatever parts you are missing from the 94. then just install a manual truck eprom, and run your existing trans.

The program that runs the computer (ECM) for the fuel injection setup is called a "prom" basically, getting a prom for a manual truck means that you need to get a fuel injection program for a truck that has a 350 TBI unit, and a manual transmission. Otherwise, the computer will give you constant grief as it will think that it's tranny suffered a massive failure, while you are just running your current transmission as it runs right now with the vaccum, or whatever depending on the transmission.
Proms are fairly easy to install, its just a small chip that you install onto the side of the computer. Just make sure that you get the right one though, one for a truck TBI, with a 5.7 350 and for a manual transmission. If you have any performance parts, be sure to tell whoever you buy the prom from so they can make sure that the computer won't have issues if the performance part is one that could affect how the motor runs (vac, rich idle etc) Installing the TBI won't be too tough, mostly just plugging stuff into the right spot, looks a whole lot more intimidating than it is. Oh yeah, if the computer comes from a truck with an electronically controlled distributer, be sure that you get the distributer from the donor vehicle as well

Dont forget an EFI Fuel pump... I used a external pump from an 88 F-150 and mounted it to the frame rail in front of the selector valve.

or just rob the lines and sending unit and pop that sending unit in your tank as well as the lines
