Question regarding "old style" body

Hello,

Can someone tell me if a 2 door "old style body" 1 ton was manufactured after 1986?

Thanks so much

"Old Body Style" commonly referred to as OBS Chevy trucks were only made from '88-'98. I'm not too sure what the pre-88 body style is called

If you mean the 81 and up style, then they made those until 1991. But only in crew cabs, blazers and suburbans. I have never seen a regular cab 1 ton 89-91. I thought there were some 88 running around, but not sure. When the new style came out in 88, the old style went from C and K to V and R. R being 4wd.

Question regarding "old style" body

I'm sorry I didn't explain that more fully! That's because my boss didn't really explain what he meant to me. But, he just took me out and showed me what he is talking about.

We have an '86 2 door dually and a '98 dually. We use them to deliver roof trusses. The '86 has been an incredible work horse and is about ready to be retired to a nice green pasture somewhere! I think it has about 300,000 miles on it!

The bed of the truck is what he is concerned about. The '86 bed is bolted to the frame of the truck and is still very very sturdy, even after all we've put it through. The '98 bed however, is spot welded, rather than bolted to the frame. You can see every bolt coming through the bed, and the bed is TOTALLY lose. He stood beside the truck and lifted the bed right up! It's almost like it is just barely attached.

We're trying to find a replacement for the '86, and heard from someone (not sure who) that after 1986, the 4 door model was available with the bed bolted, but, the 2 door model was only available with the welded bed.

So, to make a long story short (although, it's a little late for that) were 2 door 1 tons made with the bed bolted to the frame after 1986?

Thanks,

Lori

Is the 98 a Chevy?? It should be bolted, the beds were never welded onto the frame from the factory. Sounds like somebody's shoddy work.

The 1998 is a GMC, and it definitely came from the dealership welded! This is getting really confusing!

Thanks for the responses!

look closer, the bed has bolts that come up from the bottom into the lower support, where your 86 has bolts that go through the bed floor. they're there, you just cant see them as easily.

GM made a 1 ton 2 door in 88. I used to have one, but it was not a dually.
Check it out here . It was a great truck. (I hated the campershell, but needed it for work)
