Any ideas? Truck not charging...
My battery was going dead so I figured since it was 5 years old I would replace it so I did, and the new one was going dead. So I thought my alternator wasn't charging so I had it tested and it is o.k. But when you start the truck and disconnect the positive cable from the battery the truck dies. Shouldn't the alternator keep it running once it is started? If the alternator is good what else could it be?

regulator regulates the charging of the battery that's why it's called a regulator

there is a regulator on your rad support on the drivers side. You need that is you have an externally regulated alternator bud

I ass-u-me..d it was internal but it might be external and this would explain everything. As soon as I get home I will check it. What should it look like? A sqaure box with at least 2 wires hooked up to it?
