Good deal. You will love it. Haynes or Chiltons can't hold a candle to it.

Hey Mike, I really need something better then the Chilton and Hayes I have.
I have looked at alot of shop manuals but they seem like they are $100+.
Why is this one only $60, is it just a good deal?
Is this $60 the set/kit which includes electrical & emissions, shop/service manual, unit repair/chassis manual?

THANKS!

From the website you posted:
"
Note: GM Truck Owners, for model years 1996 and prior the service manual is available as a set (or kit) and also sold in sections (electrical & emissions, shop/service manual, unit repair/chassis manual). All three sections are needed for full coverage.
"

EDIT:
I just called them and they told me the book is brand new and it is actually (3) books that makes up all that info above. Mike can you verify that this is true, the lady I spoke with seemed like she wasnt too sure about this.
What do I not get for this $60?

You talking about the one in the link above? Yes, it's the right one. Mine was $60.00 too, but it didn't come with the extra stuff, only the shop manual. So, the price is even better than it was when I bought mine. I don't know what the 1996 is for. I think they made a mistake and it's supposed to be 1986.

My wife bought me all three manuals for my '86. It is actually 3 separate manuals, and I think it was about $100. It sounds like Mike has just the shop/service manual.

eBay can certainly be the best price on manuals if you're patient and look carefully. I snagged the GMC factory service manual for my truck for $1 on eBay in great condition. With shipping, I only spent $6.50. Admittedly, this is not typical.

The key is to be willing to look for auctions with different or generic titles. The title for the auction I won had no mention whatsoever of GM, Chevy, GMC, etc. in it. It merely stated 1986 Light Truck Service Manual. I think this was why I was the only bidder!

I kept one eye open for a few months and was ready to pounce when the opportunity came. Mine is actually a former copy owned by a dealership in West Virginia. So, I'd venture to guess that old manuals that dealerships and garages are getting rid of can find their way onto the Web at auction. I'd snap one up before the supply dries up and only the expensive sources remain.

Good luck!

I grabbed mine for $5 as well off Ebay. I love it. I would be lost without it. I also got from a fellow baord member a 79-81 parts catalog. I love that as well since I can look up the part I need and just call the dealers to see has the best price.

ST-330-83 is the shop manual component of the set. It does contain plenty of electrical, emissions, and wiring diagram content though, with several 48" or more fold-out wiring diagrams.

By the way, Chilton's manuals aren't as bad as you think. Mine is serving me quite well - leveling out my computer desk.

If your book's spine ever fails and comes apart (which it will after 5-10 years or less of heavy use), Kinko's can spiral bind it for you for about $10 or so. You have to split it in half though around section 6E or so. I had them rebind my ST-330-85, and it's a lot easier now to lay the book flat, and the integrity of the pages is kept intact. Plus I kept the original cover for the first half, and had a color copy of the cover made for the second half, with clear vinyl covers on the fronts.

I highly reccomend Kinko's binding services for anything you gotta bind. =)

How can they do that? The pages in my book are so thin you can almost see through them!!! I would like mine sealed then bound.

That's a hell of an idea. I need to do that to my shop manual. The parts catalog I have is already in a big notebook.
