Rotten Luck

Look What Happened To Me Today On The Way Into Work. I Wouldn't Have Known If My Rear End Cover Hadn't Started Leaking From The Hole Made By The Chipped Piece. Can You Believe It Still Drives Smooth And Doesn't Make Noise?

Looks like it's been that way for a while (no sharp edges or rough surfaces).

from the looks of it it has been out of sync for quite a while. my guess is that your carrier & pinion brgs are worn out due to the wear pattern on the ring gear. looks like some bad wear on the side & spider gears also. is that a Dana 44? time to throw some big money at it. nothing to complicated though. those are fairly simple to set up.

Good thing that piece didn't get wedged in between the crown & pinion while you were driving. Maybe it was heavy enough to stay on the bottom of the diff. Doug

Beer so frosty, smooth, and cold it's paradise pure liquid gold.
Yes beer means many things to me that's all for now cus I gotta pee.

Got My Truck Fixed On Friday Night. Found The Piece In The Front Of The Housing. I Went Back With The Same Gear Ratio But With A Posi Trac This Time... Oh And By The Way They Were Tough To Set Up...all The Shims For The Diff Go Between The Diff And The Bearing Instead Of On The Outside Of The Bearing... There Is Also No Crush Sleeve...shims There Also. Yes, I Farmed It Out...wouldn't About To Try It...it's My Daily Driver.
